Finally Im writing a post!!! Today is our first day of classes which is why I am able to use the internet. The trip so far has been a whirlwind. The flight to detroit was pleasant enough but the NINE hour flight to Rome was terrible. I got a headache halfway through the flight and i had a middle seat so there was no way i could get comfortable enough to sleep. I probably slept a total of 2-3hrs so i was feeling pretty terrible. But once we got off the plane and i got to stop breathing all that recycled air and get some water i felt much better. Then we took a bus to meet our host families.( which we were all very visibly nervous about.) Our host mother,Maria Theresa is very sweet. She speaks pretty much no english but she is very patient as we try to communicate. She is really sweet and LOVES to feed us. She is also about 60 and told me she likes to sunbath naked on her terrace. She seems very open minded. :) Maria Theresa's house is only a 20 minute tram ride from school (luckily because we all know how good i am with direction). Abbeh and I both have our own rooms ( which i love). She also said we must make the bed everyday because it is customary in Italy.. MOM i bet your loving that part ;). She has a medium sized terrace with all kinds of plants. She even has a honeysuckle bush which is nice because it reminds me of home. Other than that the first day was pretty uneventful. We had dinner and talked as best we could and we went to bed around ten.
The second day I woke up around 10. Breakfast has been toast with nutella ( apparently they dont eat peanut butter but LOVE nutella) and coffee. i had to wake up abbeh up at like 130 because i wanted to go for a walk and explore and because it was time for lunch. Maria Theresa kept asking if abbeh was okay and if she was breathing lol. After abbeh got up we had lunch and then went for a walk before we had to meet the other students. Antonella took us to see the Piazza Navona and the Lago di Argentina before showing us where our school was. Then after we had dinner, abbehs friend luca ( she met him last time she studied in Italy) took us to piazza san pietro and the fontana di tivoli. the fontana is my favorite so far. so beautiful especially at night and if you dont mind many couples making out and being all lovely-dovey near you :)
Okay ive pretty much caught you up on most of what ive done so far. Now that we have school it should be easy to update this regularly :)
Vi amo,
Haley
